Vali Teymouri, deputy director of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicraft and Tourism Organization, announced Tuesday that the Cabinet had approved a visa-free entry policy for Chinese tourists. "Therefore, Chinese tourists will no longer need visas to travel to Iran." Vali Teymouri said.



Reported that under US sanctions, Iran has taken some similar measures to increase its tourism revenue in order to attract more foreign tourists. But this is only one-sided, that is, Iranian tourists still need visas to travel to China.



On 23 June, Iranian President Ruhani ordered the Minister of the Interior, Fazli, to stop stamping and marking visas on the passports of foreigners visiting the country. Last November, Iran launched a pilot project at its chosen Tehran Khomeini International Airport to issue electronic visas for travellers to the country without entry and exit stamps to promote tourism and respond to unilateral sanctions imposed by the United States, with good social results. In the same year, Iran welcomed about 7.8 million foreigners, an increase of 52.5% over the previous year.
