The fire department in Honolulu, Hawaii, said that the first news of the crash was around 18:30 on the same day. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found that the wreckage of the plane had been completely engulfed by the flames. About an hour after the incident, Manuel Nevis, a fire chief, told the media, "Just now, preliminary reports showed that there were nine people on board and no survivors."
Nevis also revealed that when the plane crashed, the family members of the passengers on board were on the ground and might have seen the crash.
"It's very difficult," Nevez added. "In my 40 years as a Hawaiian firefighter, this is the most tragic plane accident we've ever had."
Honolululu Mayor Kirk Caldwell tweeted that he was also concerned about the accident. "At this time, our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the victims."
The report also mentioned that it was not clear whether the crash took place during takeoff or landing. "We're collecting information," Nevis said. "We don't yet know the intentions of the flight."
