  Shandong's zibo, zaozhuang, weifang and linyi ranked among the top 4 cities with the worst air quality in March, according to a ranking released by China's ministry of ecology and environment Wednesday


  In the first quarter of this year, the air quality of 168 key cities in China was ranked, followed by linfen, shijiazhuang, xingtai, handan, anyang, xianyang, baoding, jiaozuo, yuncheng and weinan. In the same period, the top 10 cities with good air quality were Lhasa, haikou, shenzhen, lishui, zhoushan, fuzhou, xiamen, huizhou, huangshan and guiyang.


  In march, the 168 key cities in China ranked relatively poor in air quality, followed by zibo, zaozhuang, weifang, linyi, jinzhou, urumqi, shijiazhuang, tangshan, binzhou, shenyang, liaocheng, jinan and so on. Among the 12 cities with the lowest air quality in China, shandong province occupies 7 places.


  The monitoring showed that in the first quarter of this year, the average number of "2+26" cities in the beijing-tianjin-hebei region and surrounding areas had 49.1 percent of good days, down 3.8 percentage points year-on-year, and the concentration of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) was 90 micrograms per cubic meter, up 8.4 percent year-on-year. In march, the ratio of "2+26" cities in the beijing-tianjin-hebei region and surrounding areas averaged 74.5 percent of good days, up 20.8 percentage points from a year earlier, and the PM2.5 concentration was 54 micrograms per cubic meter, down 28 percent from a year earlier.It was reported that in the first quarter of this year, the average number of good days in 337 cities at or above the prefectural level was 76.9 percent, among which 96 cities met the environmental and air quality standards, an increase of 28 over the previous year. The PM2.5 concentration was 54 micrograms per cubic meter, up 1.9 percent year-on-year. In march, the average number of good days in 337 prefecture-level and above cities was 88.3 percent, up 5.1 percentage points year-on-year. The PM2.5 concentration was 41 micrograms per cubic meter, down 4.7 percent year-on-year.
